Become Greeter: your city or territory, welcoming volunteer
Are you passionate about your town, village or region? Share it with visitors.
You have just discovered the movement of the greeters, the idea seems to you enriching and you wish to be part of this practice of collaborative tourism, to share with other cultures, to exchange, to practice a foreign language, to make new friends during a nice and friendly meeting . We look forward to your choice and wish to welcome you in our community of Greeters.
How to become yourself, Greeter?
Our greeters are not alone in nature, they are part of local communities of at least 5 greeters. They are Associations, Collectives of inhabitants or tourist organizations such as Tourist Office. All follow the same Greeter Charter and the same values. There are two possibilities to join us:
- 1- Either one of these communities, a Greeter Organization, already exists in your city or region, not far away, then contact them and ask to become a member. See the map of our locations in France under the “Come for a stroll” tab.
- 2- Either no organization exists near you, then you need to create one! You can group with friends or acquaintances, or campaign with the tourist office of your city or community of communes, so that they set up and manage, with their structure, a group of Greeters affiliated with the French Federation. Contact us by filling out and validating the form below. Thank you

and the effective start of your project at the FFG. You then become a “candidate member” of the France Greeters Federation. This is, for you, a commitment to join the international community of Greeters. It is also for us, a commitment to do our utmost to help this implementation by following the rules of the Greeters and using the tools at your disposal. Fill in and sign the membership document, to validate the start of the project and the use of the help and tools provided by the FFG. Click here to download.

Build and implement your network
- Recruit the first volunteer greeters and announce your intent locally. This will take a few months. You’ll need at least five greeters to apply for membership in the Greeters.
- Set up a dedicated website to present your Greeters service and collect visitor requests. The site must follow certain rules (domain name, English language, logo etc) we will help you to set it up.
- You will have to use the greet management system “JEF”, made available to you by FFG and to do so follow the training (tutorial and phone). It will have to interface with your presentation of the Greeter offer on your website. This is done simply by a link to the registration form for a greet.

Compliance, Launch
When you are ready to start, the France Greeters Federation validates the compliance of your Greeters organisation. It’s time to communicate with the local media! The Federation will then take care of obtaining your international label and IGA membership. Your FFG membership fee will be due in January of the year following your implementation of Greeters.
Take your first steps on the Greeters’ adventure. We’ll be there to help you.
Can you indicate your motivation, your personal interest in wanting to organize a Greeter group. Tell us what you would like to do in terms of reception, walks... In what type of structure (association, Tourist Office, Collective etc...)
